Put a Freeze on Winter Fires

Did you know that more home fires occur in the winter than any other season?

Yes, half of all home heating fires occur in the months of December, January, and February.  It’s also true that heating equipment is involved in one in every seven home fires and one in every six home fire deaths.  These winter home fires result in property losses in the billions of dollars each year.

If you want to better protect your home from fire this winter season, follow these simple steps:

·        Keep anything that can burn at least three feet from any heat source (e.g., fireplaces, wood stoves, radiators, or space heaters).

·        Keep portable generators outside, away from windows, and as far away as possible from your house.

·        Have a qualified professional clean and inspect your chimney and vents every year.
