Lieutenant Casimir Miarka received the 2011 Jill Galihugh Outstanding Alumni Award during the Delta College Police Academy’s 88th class graduation ceremony earlier this month.  Lieutenant Miarka oversees the Patrol Division for the Auburn Hills Police Department.
Miarka graduated from Delta’s Police Academy in 1990. Over the years, Miarka has continued his education, earning a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from University of Phoenix in 2001 and graduating from the 244th session of the FBI National Academy this year.
Miarka has been with the Auburn Hills Police Department since 1991. He has received 20 different departmental awards over his 20 year career, including Auburn Hills Officer of the Year in 1997, and the Chiefs Award in 2000.
The Jill Galihugh Outstanding Alumni Award was developed in 2005 to showcase an academy graduate who has been a leader in the law enforcement community. It recognizes professional and scholarly achievement, and is presented to a person who has demonstrated a high level of commitment to the welfare of the entire community served by Delta College. Jill Gallihugh retired after 25 years of dedicated service to Delta in 2005, and played an integral part in the success of the academy.
